Frank Wooten Stables
Frank Wooten Stables is a small private training stable owned and operated by Frankie and Daphne Wooten in Camden, South Carolina. The farm is nestled between the historic Camden Training Center, where Champions Ruffian and Forego trained, and Springdale Racecourse, home of the Carolina and Colonial Cups. We have 22 acres, three barns and numerous paddocks. In business since 1986, we have stressed quality over quanity, as we break only 25 to 35 yearlings a year. Each horse is treated as an individual, in hopes of producing their maximum potential. The yearlings come to us in the Fall (Sept/Oct), unbroken from various farms around the country. Most come from Kentucky. Because of our wonderful facilities, our yearlings get to gallop on both the dirt and turf. The training center also has a four horse starting gate where our yearlings get an early gate education. Yearlings that need more time can enjoy our wonderful farm and warm southern weather. Older horses also enjoy a quiet time on the farm, and leave here in the Spring feeling fresh and renewed. Most two year olds leave in late April or early May.

Since we began, Frank Wooten Stables has produced one Breeders Cup winner, One Eclipse award winner ‑ Champion Two year old colt, a million dollar earner and Grade One winner, plus multiple Graded stakes winners.

Frankie is originally from Boykin, South Carolina, a small town outside of Camden. Frankie graduated from the College of Charleston with a business degree, but while taking off a semester before Graduate school, he began galloping horses for Joe Cantey. When Cantey shipped to New York, Frankie started breaking yearlings for Hall of Fame trainer Frank Whiteley After having attended the Carolina Cup for years, the lure of a career as a steeplechase jockey called and Frankie went to work for Hall of Fame trainer Burley Cocks.
Daphne was born and raised in Upperville, Virginia. Daphne was riding before she could walk, she has always been surrounded by horses. Her parents were involved in fox-hunting, steeplechasing and Pony Club. Daphne rode competitively from a young age, showing ponies, fox-hunting and eventually becoming a full time event rider. While at Foxcroft School, Daphne won the North American Junior Three Day Event Championships in 1980, and came back the next year to be reserve Champion.
